Execution of your Supply Chain
Self Billing vs. Freight Audit
Our goal is to pay the customers’ carriers timely as well as to reduce the administrative time spent on invoice control. IDS offers Self Billing and Freight Audit.
Self Billing
The “self billing” process starts by sending the carrier a credit note detailing the work they have completed including the agreed upon rates. The carrier double checks the credit note, and if all of the information is correct, we pay them for the work done on behalf of the customer. It is that simple!
Freight Audit
If “self billing” is not an option, then Freight Audit is a good alternative. Once the carriers' invoice specification is uploaded in Infodis, the amounts are checked against the calculated freight charges. The only attention goes to the items that did not match, Management by Exception. When these differences have been sorted out by IDS, the invoice can be approved. The carriers can upload the invoice specification directly from their transport management systems to Infodis via EDI.
At the point of transportation, the customer is able to see their actual transportation costs. Therefore, the customer will have improved and immediate accruals of costs for the accounting. IDS will also support costs allocation to various lines of business of the customer when required.
Saving money with Freight Audit
Freight Audit is about saving money, but not just in the short term by stopping overcharging. Freight Audit is a key part of your Supply Chain. The information provided in the invoices allows IDS:
- Perform cost analysis of transport lanes
- Choose the most effective transport companies
- Competitively manage the portfolio of providers
The invoice data, coupled with our expertise and experience in analytics helps us with future procurement and selection decisions, making Freight Audit part of an ongoing process, not solely a cost saving tactic.
Depending on the wishes of the customer, IDS can perform the final payment on behalf of the customer or leave the final payment transaction to the customer and IDS will prepare the payment instruction.
Day-to-day Freight Management
Whether you require your full or partial shipments to be moved by road, rail, air or sea, we manage all modes of transport to meet your transportation needs. IDS provides an operational single point of contact in the Customer Service desk that collaborates with the carriers, suppliers and/or clients of the customer.
IDS is your European Logistics Control Tower
Unlike most transportation providers that focus on a geography, IDS is able to answer your transportation needs with full coverage throughout Europe from its freight management centre in Woerden, The Netherlands.
We monitor and manage this process within Europe. Logistics Technicians are responsible for the load planning and monitoring of all shipments. These individuals manage the load tender process, perform load planning, coordinate with your clients’ receiving and shipping locations, assign carriers, track shipments and resolve load related problems through the complete shipment order cycle.
In a way, IDS is your outcourced Logistics Control Tower, built around the shipment order lifecycle.
